What We Leave Behind is a series of six improvisational movements that aim to interpret the complex relationship between choice and impact. Developed as part of the InBreak Residency, the piece engages the intersection of art, faith, and race, to grapple with individual responsibility in a world divided by institutional and social pressures.
Each movement is expressed in a physical Tap Dance Surface with markings, with corresponding video and audio pieces, writings, and a multipart course. The first movement was premiered at the inaugural InBreak Residency exhibit Into the Deep, Unto the New. New movements will be revealed as the piece develops.
