Coming Fall 2019, Andrew Nemr releases the first in a series of resources based on his experience with tap dance masters from a generation long gone by. Andrew is unique in his generation having spent significant amounts of time with a particular cohort of tap dancers including Henry LeTang, Bunny Briggs, Jimmy Slyde, LeRoy Myers, James “Buster” Brown, Ernest “Brownie” Brown and Gregory Hines.
Spending time around each of their unique approaches sent Andrew into a journey of discernment around what the common values in all their approaches were. They all said they were tap dancing, but many had divergent approaches. What were the differences and benefits of each? What were the common values they all shared? Is there a way to frame all of this so that it could be easily shared?
Welcome to The Method. A series of resources that aims to equip tap dancers with an approach to the craft that will root them in the tradition and encourage exploration, experimentation, and ultimately their own contribution to the craft.
