This debut of Andrew’s endurance art was conceived as the creation of a space away from the communal anxiety that many expressed in the days prior to the elections in the United States. For this piece Andrew collaborated with visual artist Jessie Nilo.
Description
What can we do when all the votes have been cast, when the day is done, and when the night comes upon us – when we might feel like there is nothing left to be done. We can watch and pray.
As the evening news will be covering exit poll results, and attempting to call the election, I’ll be holding vigil. This extended performance piece, will be a meditation on the things that will remain regardless of who wins and who loses; a preparation for the work that comes with each next day; a prayer for the health and thriving of the people of this nation-state, in whatever state or stature they may find themselves; a dance for continued revelation.
If anxiety, contempt, anger, fear, or callousness, is abounding for you, consider joining me. Watch and pray.
