Andrew first composed and choreographed 6ix in 2009 as part of his work directing his tap dance company, Cats Paying Dues. The piece remained in the company repertoire being performed in shows Echoes in Time, Cats In Concert, and Three Suites.
As a teaching tool 6ix has been included in the curriculum of Andrew’s Summer Intensives, as well as in the repertoires of some youth tap ensembles (The Jam Youth Project and TapCo YTE).
The piece (as seen here) was reimagined for a single performer on video in response to meditation on Psalm 23 and included as part of the Psalms in Dialogue project presented by Duke University Chapel.
