Andrew’s teaching method is rooted in exposing students to the fundamental truths of tap dancing, and providing them with a process through which they can enjoy the discovery of this vernacular art form.
Learning tap dance, as it is with the pursuit of any art form, is an opportunity for the development of key attributes such as focus, listening, self-awareness, and balance. To take advantage of this unique opportunity Andrew uses analogies to help students relate the seemingly the abstract form of tap dance to their daily lives and vice versa. How one approaches their craft is directly related to how one approaches situations in life. It is with this philosophy – an opening of the students’ eyes to the process – that Andrew focuses his efforts in education.
By continually searching for ways to relate the fundamentals of tap dance to those of life, Andrew has been able to connect with a wide range of ages, levels, and demographics. From the beginner to the advanced, the hobbyist to the professional, the young and old, Andrew’s classes have been met with enthusiasm and joy while conveying an experience of the intensity that is needed to pursue understanding.
