Come Together, a new show by Cats Paying Dues/CPD PLUS Artistic Director Andrew J. Nemr, blends the impact of tap dance, the lyric of song, and personal stories told by members of the company to explore challenges faced by students in high school today. Such challenges range from the desire to fit in and negative self-image ussues, to finding postiive ways to release emotion and what its like beyond school walls.
Come Together uses the yoth of the Cats Paying Dues/CPD PLUS company members and their poignant stories, told with humor and heart-felt discourse, to lay a foundation of understanding with the students. That foundation is the basis for an open discussion between the students and performers following each presentation.
The combined dance component and open dialogue promote ideas of self-confidence and inter-dependance which help combat both the culture of bullying and the continual victimization of those bullied.
